Each class starts with a game to get our students in the mood and interacting with each other. Being new to a large group can be daunting and we believe that no matter what age you are, having fun always helps us relax and be ourselves, the perfect state to enable us to learn! After our game we move straight onto our warm up and into class. Each class involves students learning some technique/foundations, exploring them creatively in their own way through concepts and creative tasks, and learning fun routines based on these foundation movements. We always finish with a cool down and reflection.

TRNSCND is Elevate Arts’ Junior performance crew, who represent Elevate Arts at a number of events and competitions across London and Beyond.

We introduced TRNSCND to enable our students to have a progression route from our classes and provide all round training to young people who enjoy performing and have dreams of one day working professionally in the dance industry.

TRNSCND, in their first ever competition, managed to win 1st place in their age category plus 3 crew members placed top 3 in freestyle! TRNSCND have also performed at the Lyric Theatre and Acton Carnival.

Crew training is a step up from our regular classes. We still embody all of our values, but expect more from our students at this level. Our all round training approach allows students to gain skills in freestyle, battles, choreography, teaching and performing as well as understanding the culture and history of street dance. This will equip them with the skills to become versatile dance artists in future. In crew training:

  • We provide training in all street styles creating versatile dancers
  • We encourage a family dynamic through team building activities and trips
  • We build a strong base by teaching students the foundations
  • We encourage creativity and exploration
  • We develop fitness through dance specific conditioning, enabling students to dance more efficiently
  • We introduce and develop students’ freestyle and battle technique
  • We allow students to get creative and choreograph their own material, including solos, duos and small groups
  • Work on tricks suitable for each individual and their ability
  • We learn fun routines and put them together in a set performance for competitions and shows
  • We encourage students to lead to develop their leadership skills – whether it is a warm up, a task, or a routine
  • We set students weekly homework, so they can develop their research skills and understand the culture and history of street dance, find inspiration and improve their knowledge
  • We mentor each student individually, set them regular targets and provide a report for parents at the end of the year
  • We have plenty of opportunities to perform, compete and have fun – students have the chance to win medals and trophies at some competitions!

If you are aged 7-16 and passionate about becoming a dancer, choreographer or even a teacher, TRNSCND could be the place for you! Auditions for TRNSCND take place once a year in September. Please contact us for more information.
